A government services contractor is seeking a Hardware-Software Integration & Installation Engineer to support mission-critical naval systems programs. This role sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and system integration, supporting complex environments that directly impact operational readiness across the fleet.
This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the full lifecycle of systems, from integration and testing to deployment, sustainment, and troubleshooting in real-world environments. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and end users to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and fully operational.
This position offers the opportunity to support advanced C4I and METOC systems within a high-visibility defense environment, with exposure to both CONUS and OCONUS operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support integration, installation, testing, and sustainment of complex hardware/software systems in operational environments
- Perform system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for time-sensitive technical challenges
- Maintain and update system software, firmware, and operating systems, including patching and version control
- Support cybersecurity efforts including STIG compliance, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system manuals, test plans, and engineering reports
- Assist with certification and accreditation (C&A) processes and ensure compliance with DoD security standards
- Provide on-site technical support, including shipboard installations and system verification activities
- Support configuration management and change control processes to maintain system integrity
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure system performance, interoperability, and mission alignment
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, or 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience
- Experience with hardware/software integration in a DoD or shipboard environment
- CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent, DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant)
- Experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, patching, and DoD cybersecurity requirements
- Experience with version control systems and issue tracking tools
